EU Farmgate Milk Prices

Latest information from DG-Agri shows:

• A May average price of €28.82/100kg (25.48ppl) for the EU-25 was €0.19/100kg (0.7%) up on the previous month.
• The top-5 milk producing countries (Germany, France, UK, Netherlands & Italy) average May price was €28.55/100kg (25.24ppl)

• The average UK farmgate price in May stood at €26.69/100g (23.60ppl), this was €4.08/100kg (18.0%) higher when compared to the level in May 2009.  

EU farmgate prices continued to show mixed results between April and May across the 25 member states. A May average price of €28.82/100kg (25.48ppl) was €0.19/100kg (0.7%) up on the previous month.  Compared to the previous year, the May price was up €3.86/100kg (14.6%) compared to May 2009 - equivalent to 2.56ppl.

The largest year on year increases have been seen in the EU-10 member states with Latvia seeing the largest increase.  A May price of €24.42/100kg (21.59ppl) is €8.71/100kg (55.4%) more than the previous year.  However, this price is only the 22^nd highest price in the EU-25.

Looking at the top-5 milk producing countries (Germany, France, UK, Netherlands & Italy), the average May price was €28.55/100kg (25.24ppl) which was an increase of €0.94/100kg (3.4%) compared to the previous month.

In the UK, the average farmgate price in May stood at €26.69/100g (23.60ppl), this was €4.08/100kg (18.0%) higher when compared to the level in May 2009.
