Monthly Milk Deliveries

  • Provisional UK milk deliveries for August totalled 1,119m litres, 66m litres higher compared with the previous year, equivalent to a 6.3% increase.
  • Over the same period, GB deliveries provisionally increased by 5.4% (49m litres) to 962m litres in August.
  • Deliveries in NI provisionally totalled 157m litres in July, which was 11.3% up on the same time last year.

According to the latest provisional figures, UK milk deliveries in August totalled 1,119m litres. Compared to the previous year, August deliveries were 66m litres (6.3%) more than the previous year and the highest August figure since August 2005.  Provisional cumulative deliveries for the 2010/11 year stand at 5,815m litres, an increase of 184m  (3.3%) compared to the same period in 2009/10 and the highest since 2006/07.

Separating GB and NI shows that in August, provisional milk deliveries in GB stood at 962m litres, 49m litres (5.4%) more than the previous year.  Cumulatively, production provisionally stands at 4,949m litres, 143m (3.0%) more than the same period last year.

In NI, provisional milk deliveries in August totalled 157m litres, an increase of 16m (11.3%) compared to the previous year.

UK milk deliveries have fallen for the past six years and the 2009/10 saw a new low.
