School Milk Project - Next steps

1. Decide which milk provision option is best for your school

2. Canvass parents with milk letter and health benefits information -  click here to download letter

3. Decide when milk drinking should take place (eg, mid morning)

4. Decide who collects the money, how often, who distributes the milk and where milk is best consumed

5. Contact the Local Authority or local dairy supplier for further details on ordering the milk

6. Decide whether a fridge or cool boxes are needed. Ask the Local Authority or the dairy if refrigeration is available

7. Collate results of canvassing letter - Decide and communicate start date (eg, parents, dairy, LA, Healthy Schools Advisor)

8. Check with your local dairy farmer to see if they give class talks or assembly, or why not arrange a farm visit. Why not check out our farm visits section of the site (click here) for useful links to help you arrange a visit to a farm.

9. Download free, educational resources to complement your milk provision.

10. Please also visit www.foodafactoflife.org.uk which provides free, downloadable resources including lesson plans, providing teachers and children with up-to-date, accurate and consistent information about dairy production and healthy eating.

12. Enjoy the benefits of being a school providing milk for your children and continue to promote milk drinking throughout the school. Regularly canvass your parents to keep them up to date with your milk provision.
